If the bearExtender is unplugged and then plugged in again, it often will not reconnect, The computer must be rebooted and the Bear Extender must be plugged in before the computer boots up. Thus I am hoping to hear from someone who has actual experience with a specific unit and who has tested it and can say, like I could with he BearExtender that he can see more networks, and get a stronger signal from the networks than with the device built into the MacBook Air. The right sort of antenna might also work, but which one would be best requires testing and experience. (Signal strength was increased, and at most locations, many more networks showed up that did not show without the BearExtender installed.)Ĭlearly the hardware inside their device really worked. But the other hardware seemed to really boost weak signals that the WiFI receiver in the mac could not see or use.
